Saathi’s Kria Project provides an opportunity for young women and men to learn a craft and earn a daily stipend as they participate in the rehabilitative activities of the Girls and Youth Initiative Projects. These girls and boys, ages 16-24, have come to Mumbai on their own, having left home either voluntarily or through force. They are met by Saathi workers at the train station or are referred by other organizations in the city. While at Saathi, they take part in educational activities, life skills sessions, counseling, vocational training, medical support, recreation, and other participatory activities which foster self confidence, independence, and healing.

Kria Project works with two main product lines – Mosaic and Bags.  Within Kria Mosaic - Home, the girls create home décor products using coloured glass in various mosaic designs and techniques. The product range includes coaster and tray sets, photo frames, small tables, and wall hangings.

Kria Mosaic - Art hosts the talents of a few of the girls who have mastered their skills and moved on to increasingly more intricate techniques employed in larger pieces such as portraits and landscapes which measure 2’ by 3’. Their work has been exhibited at the Cymroza Art Gallery.

Kria Bags provides a holistic approach to income generation through daily stipends as well as providing an environment where the boys are able to take up responsibilities of running a business such as handling client relations, organizing production to meet orders, and some marketing. The bags on offer include a range of 3-ply recycled newspaper, brown paper, brown paper with recycled newspaper outer, and handmade paper. Bags are custom made according to the client’s need with logos screen printed. All bags have reinforced bottoms, metal grommets, and soft rope handles.

Kria’s products have been sold in local boutiques and lifestyle shops as well as through special order. Interest in the products has expanded to include international clients.
